Arrivals in mainland risk areas will no longer need to pre-book a quarantine hotel

People who intend to return to Macao from high-pandemic-risk regions in mainland China will no longer need to book a medical observation hotel in advance, health authorities said.

The coordinator of the Novel Coronavirus Coordination and Response Center, Dr. Leong Iek Hou, said yesterday that the list of risk areas in mainland China and the corresponding anti-epidemic measures are “frequently changed” in response to the pandemic situation. .

Therefore, for these people, at the time of entering Macao, the Health Bureau officials stationed at the border posts will indicate the places for medical observation, in accordance with the requirements of anti-epidemic measures at that time, in informing the Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) to make the observation hotels available.

Some 295 people are still under medical observation in designated SAR hotels.

Quarantine hotel arrangements for returning residents and non-residents have been readjusted since May 8, with arrivals now split into two government-designated hotels – Pousada Marina Infante – or two optional quarantine hotels – Regency Art Hotel and Grand Coloane Resort – depending on their origin, residence status and choice.

Tourism authorities also guaranteed that hotels were accepting reservations for medical observation until August, but warned that reservations must be made directly with hotel units.

Some pandemic restrictions for arrivals in Hong Kong will also be relaxed this month.

From May 16, all people from Hong Kong – including those arriving in Hong Kong via foreign countries or Taiwan and who have been in Hong Kong for 7 days – will no longer receive a yellow health code within seven days following the required 14. -quarantine day.

“During the health surveillance period, Macao’s health code will be green. However, travel to mainland China is prohibited via Macau without permission from the Chinese authorities,” Dr Leong added.

In addition, people coming from Hong Kong on their own seven-day health check should perform nucleic acid testing in the time order of 2nd, 4th, and 6th day and comply with other anti-epidemic measures.

If these people do not perform nucleic acid tests on the specified days, Macau’s health code will be converted to yellow until the test result is negative.

So, as an example, if the medical observation of central isolation is completed on June 1, that is, the period of monitoring their own health for seven days will be between June 1 and June 7, so people should take the nucleic acid test on June 2, 4, and 6 respectively.
