Bluegrass band Sandy River Ramblers will perform from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, August 12 at Village Green in Belgrade.

The Ramblers, which have been playing since 1983, have two albums composed entirely of songs about Maine, most of them written by guitarist Stan Keach, bluegrass songwriter and member of the Maine Country Music Hall of Fame, according to a press release from the band.

The group is known for their vocal harmonies and for their virtuoso playing on the banjo, violin and mandolin.

The Ramblers include fiddler Brendan Hickey, a recent Berklee College of Music graduate and music teacher in his hometown of Farmington, bassist Julie Davenport, banjoist Jeff Folger and mandolinist Jeff Trippe. Liz Keach will add her harmonies to the mix.

The Village Green concert series is sponsored by Belgrade Parks and Recreation and is free to the public. There are a few park benches, but participants are advised to bring lawn chairs or picnic blankets.
