FIRST BANK LAUNCHES A BOOK CLUB

SOUTH PINES, North Carolina, August 24, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — As part of its Project Launch 2022 initiative, First Bank announces the creation of the First Bank Book Club. Through the First Bank Book Club, public elementary and middle schools in the North and Caroline from the south will be visited by award-winning children’s authors for a day of fun, discussion and literacy.

In addition to time spent with the authors, students in each school’s reception level will receive a copy of the book discussed, with additional copies to be donated to the school library.

CEO and Chairman of First Bank, Mike Mayersaid of the initiative: “At First Bank, we believe that education benefits everyone. At the same time, we believe that reading is one of the best ways to engage young students in their education. That’s why we’re creating the First Bank Book Club to provide students in the communities we serve with the opportunity to become avid readers.We believe that the more children read, the more they discover a world outside of their own, think more creative and are more enthusiastic about learning.

The First Bank Book Club was created in partnership with the non-profit authors of Moore schools (AIMS) of Southern Pines (NC). Authors in Moore Schools was established in 2015 with a mission to promote the love of reading by bringing students, parents, schools, communities and authors together through great books. Over the past 7 years, AIMS has organized events with more than 100 authors in 40 schools and provided 19,000 free copies of these authors’ books to students in Southeastern North Carolina. Authors include the best of the best in children’s literature, including Newbery, Caldecott and National Book Award Honor winners Battle of the Books Authors and New York Times bestsellers. Books donated to pupils and schools will be provided by The Country Bookshop, also from Southern Pines.

QDS’ Lionheart Charities joins book club
