Hunter Biden arranged an investment meeting with the Serbian president and “wealthy people” – and planned to hitchhike with then-vice president Joe Biden when he traveled to Europe for an official visit, according to recently uncovered emails.
Emails – published by Fox News Thursday – show that Hunter had been in contact with a registered Serbian foreign agent and Serbian Ambassador to the United States in April 2010 to set up the potential investment meeting.
The emails show that Mark Doyle, who had previously served as Sen. Joe Biden and as national finance director for Biden’s failed 2008 presidential campaign, contacted Hunter on April 16, 2010 to tell him he had met with Serbian President Boris Tadic’s chief of staff and that they had posed questions about young Biden expressing interest in settling until a reunion.
Hunter reportedly met with US Ambassador to Serbia Vladimir Petrovic and Tadic’s national security adviser Jovan Ratkovic two months earlier.
Doyle, who was operating as a Serbian foreign agent at the time through his company Prairie Avenue Advisors, noted that the ambassador must have relayed Hunter’s conversations to the Serbian president’s team.
“I think you mentioned that you told them about putting you in front of wealthy people and they are willing to do that and have you meet Tadic as well,” Doyle wrote, adding that he was visiting Serbia in May.
“My sense of [Ambassador] Vladimir is that they are very willing to help you with your fund. If you have any interest, you can just call Vladimir directly, you don’t need me in the middle. I think it might be good for you and the fund to go.
Doyle went on to lead the central super PAC that aided Biden’s presidential campaign in 2020.
Hunter responded to Doyle’s email, joking that he was “Markie in the middle” and suggested setting up the reunion for mid-May as that was around the time his father was due. travel to Madrid for official vice-president business.
“How about going around May 10th.” JRB will be in Madrid and I can take a tour with him and get to Serbia and come back with you, âHunter wrote.
Doyle said the ambassador wanted to organize a “full day” with Tadic and “potential investors” whom he described as “very serious people,” according to the emails.
An email sent a week later by Hunter’s business partner Eric Schwerin indicated that Biden’s son wanted to set up the reunion right after his visit to Madrid with his father.
âRight now the idea is that Hunter may not have a specific investment opportunity to present,â Hunter’s business partner wrote, adding that it could be âa trip. introductory “.
He added, âWhen we assess the areas of investor interest (wind, real estate, hedge funds, etc.), we can schedule a follow-up trip to talk about the specific investment opportunity. “
On April 29, 2010, Hunter emailed the Ambassador saying that there had been a change in his schedule and that he was not sure he would be able to attend the May meeting, adding that ‘he wanted to try to visit in the following months.
âMaybe I can get back to you shortly with dates that might work in a month or two and we can check the calendars and see which dates work best for you,â Biden wrote, according to Fox News.
It is not clear if Hunter ultimately traveled to Serbia and met with the investors.
The emails have nothing to do with Hunter’s infamous laptop computer.
According to Fox News, Hunter maintained contact with Petrovic after he stepped down as ambassador and became a lobbyist in Washington, DC.
Hunter did not immediately respond to The Post’s request for comment on Serbia’s emails.
