Posting under the @janessarichard domain, Janessa said that when she called a customer at the front desk to check in she said, âOh my God, it’s about time. Anyway, here is my room. ‘identity, we check in in a standard king room. “
The customer added, “I was actually just online, and saw a rate of $ 89 and I’m pretty sure we’re paying $ 129, so you’ll have to match that price if you want to keep us as your. guests. “
The hotel clerk explained how she politely informed the woman that the hotel did match the prices, but asked her to provide proof of where she saw the lowest rate.

Janessa said: “Oh sure that’s not a problem. We definitely do price match if you find a cheaper fare online. I’m just going to need proof of that so if you have it on your phone, I can watch. “
Abruptly, the client refused, saying she no longer had the proof on her phone.
âWell that won’t work because I don’t have it on my phone anymore. That was about an hour ago,â the customer said.
Adding: “So I can just go to the system and change it for you guys.”
Trying to be helpful, Janessa said, “Okay usually do that, but if you give me the website it was on, I can just go to the computer and search on my own.”
Still unhappy with this solution, the client started to give in to the receptionist, saying she was difficult.
âOh my God. Why do you have to make this so complicated? I can’t remember the website. I just need you to match that rate or else we’ll go somewhere else,â the guest said.
The hotel clerk politely replied, “I’m sorry ma’am, but we can’t do this, we have to see the proof if you don’t want your room, we’ll give it to someone else. “
In the post which was viewed 210,000 times, TikTok users were quick to comment.
âASKING could you match the price instead of demanding goes a long way,â commented one person.
Another added: “I would never ask for a price match unless I have it on hand and ready to go.”
âPeople will try anything to save money,â a third commented.
