HITEC 2022 in Orlando (June 27-30) is one of the most important hospitality industry events on the calendar. Infor is excited to see familiar faces at this year’s show and to meet new ones. After a major upheaval in the industry over the past two years, one of the most important takeaways was to understand where hotel and resort businesses were most vulnerable. Of course, for each general subject, it is important to remember that each company is unique. We expect to have very interesting conversations with attendees about the challenges and goals facing their organizations and how cutting-edge technology can help them.
The issue of workforce in the hospitality industry is a major concern – how to retain talent in the hospitality industry and how to get the most out of it without placing too much burden on teams or individuals. This topic has also come out of a very tumultuous time, with a lot of effort being put into understanding how to optimize labor resources, reduce costs and retain skilled people in the industry in part by empowering them to do their best.
Hotel and resort organizations are looking to better understand the most cost-effective ways to run efficient operations and the technology that needs to be in place to ensure that result. This has implications for which locations perform best, which need greater support, and how technology can play a role in enabling the best results every day in every location while still empowering a workforce.
Rely on customer empowerment and control via mobile
A major driver of investment and further planning for mobile capabilities is the fact that hotel guests are using their mobile devices as a hub to manage all areas of their lives. This includes their hotel guest experience. This alignment of cultural and technological factors allows guests and staff to stay connected throughout their journey with hotel brands. Mobile-friendly features and services create cohesion, a sense of control and greater freedom of movement.
Mobile and guest-driven processes help personalize a hotel stay. Today, hospitality industry leaders are more than aware of the importance of providing greater clarity and providing guest-managed options to enable greater customization. A talking point at the show could be the next step to increasing guest engagement and empowerment via mobile support and what it might look like in a year.
Always strive to be smarter
The collection of global data on an exponential scale over the past ten years is an important trend for every industry. Hotels and resorts are no exception. To understand what is happening in all locations, it is essential to keep track of customer information and history in a meaningful and intuitive way. This is the key factor in uncovering potential sources of revenue and competitive momentum, it all starts with the right data to inform a detailed business strategy to stay competitive.
When organizations invest in scalable platforms that connect solutions together and apply to all properties, they focus more on building more effective strategies. This may not be HITEC’s newest topic this year. But even as paradigms change and new technologies emerge, it’s still one of the most important areas to consider when planning roadmaps.
