Library donated, bookstore returning to regular programs soon | Characteristics


The Given Memorial Library, Tufts Archives, and Given Book Store announce information on upcoming programs.

Story Time is for ages 5 and under and takes place Thursdays at 10 a.m. at the Given Memorial Library, located at 150 Cherokee Road, Pinehurst. Volunteers share their love of reading with the children and help with crafts, music and other activities.

Some regular programs are back, including story time for adults on Tuesday, September 7 at noon at the library.

“Take a break from your busy day and join us for a story hour designed for adults,” says a spokesperson. “Bring your lunch and let yourself be carried away by short stories to feed your mind. Audrey Moriarty will read some of her favorites.

Gathering in Given at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, September 9, with Dolores Muller, writer and master gardener, who will talk about the four main things needed to bring feathered friends to your garden.

Suggestions of plants that attract birds will also be covered, along with the best feeder food and what birds you might expect to attract that frequent our area.

The Saturday Kids program returns with brain games from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday August 7.

On Saturday, September 11, from 10 a.m. to noon, the children’s program will focus on fall activities and crafts.

The Given Library hosts one of the Growing Moore Readers summer reading stations from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. from August 9 to 12.

Monthly scavenger hunts continue, offering guests a chance to explore downtown Pinehurst.

“Collect or print fun scavenger hunts and do them at your own pace,” the spokesperson explains.
