Kharar Police booked a couple for allegedly duping a Delhi-based businessman. The couple allegedly took the complainant’s car and fled after turning off their cell phones. Police have opened an investigation into the matter.
The plaintiff, Anwar Hashmi, a resident of Chandni Chowk in Delhi, told police he was the vice president of the Noida-based investor clinic and frequently visited Punjab.
He further stated that whenever he came to Mohali, he stayed at the Centra Hotel on the Kharar-Landran road, where he met a woman named Elizabeth.
The complainant said Elizabeth had previously asked her to provide a job for her husband Puneet Sidhu. “I asked for Puneet’s CV, Elizabeth sent it to me. I also contacted Puneet Sidhu on October 6th. He called me and told me that Elizabeth was not well and asked me to give him my car. I helped the couple but after a while they stopped answering my calls, ”said the complainant.
The complainant added that both Puneet and Elizabeth turned off their phones and fled in her car. A case has been filed against Puneet and his wife Elizabeth under Articles 420 (deception), 406 (criminal breach of trust) and 120-B (criminal association) of the IPC.
