The anticipation surrounding Disney World’s newest hotel is out of this world — and for good reason. Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser is not fair hotel. It’s a state-of-the-art – and expensive – immersive experience designed to immerse guests deep within the beloved cinematic universe. The opening took years to prepare, so all eyes are on the early reviews. And as with many new developments with the star wars frankness, there is a healthy range of reactions.
Lovers of Disney Parks and star wars fans watched the Galactic Starcruiser news slowly – and the park faced some unique challenges before it opens. While some announcements, such as the cost of hotel stay, met with some resistance, others left fans anxiously wondering if a hotel experience within George Lucas’ franchise could actually live up to the hype. According to CinemaBlend’s Dirk Libbey (via Twitter), it is – at least for him:
I visited the #GalacticStarcruiser and while I can’t say if the experience will be worth it for everyone, I can say that Disney has created something truly impressive and quite unique. Walt Disney Imagineering should be proud. This is next level themed entertainment.
Dirk Libbey shared lots of details from previewthat shed light on how housing is more than a hotel. Carlye Wisel, who also attended the event, offered some exciting insights on Twitter and made it clear that for her it’s not perfect, but it’s still a unique experience:
Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser is a chaotic delight, a kind of Disney escape that’s unique but downright bonkers. Far from perfect – the exhaustive story needs streamlining and some underwhelming experiences – it remains an immersive triumph despite its flaws. pic.twitter.com/vVdetTNgnwFebruary 25, 2022
The reporter found Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser storylinewhich takes place between Star Wars: The Last Jedi and Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, be too much. However, it seems that it was not a universal experience. Brooke Geiger McDonald shared on Twitter that, at least for her family, it was a powerful and moving journey:
Thanks to my kids who got us so deeply involved in our Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser stories that the experience was both a giddy blur and we ended up caring so much we cried when it was over. My first of many thoughts: https://t.co/2EDE2ei0m6 pic.twitter.com/EzvPPKSz4PFebruary 25, 2022
She also shared footage from part of her family’s stay, giving an idea of just how special a stay at Galactic Starcruiser could be for young fans. Check it out below:

The hotel’s history seems to be a sticking point for many who found Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser entertaining, but not life-changing. All-Airtime pointed to both this and the price as the reason for their lackluster reaction:
Our review of the new Star Wars hotel ➡️ The Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser hotel is a great immersive experience for any Star Wars fan, but the boring storyline and overpriced rooms create a poor atmosphere for a standard @WaltDisneyWorld park guest #Disney pic.twitter.com/XMDaFeRufYFebruary 26, 2022
So it looks like future guests can expect a very involved storyline, which will even be connect to the star wars The edge of the galaxy merry-go-rounds and other attractions set in the fictional universe. Whether or not they enjoy this story will likely play a big role in their overall appreciation of Galactic Starcruiser – and whether they’ll be willing to shell out the cash for a return visit.
Fans who couldn’t book rooms needn’t worry too much about missing out on the fun in a galaxy far, far away. There are tons of other new attractions are coming to Disney World this year for a worthwhile trip.
