Woman “kicked out of the gym” for showing her belly

A woman posted a moving video claiming she was forced to leave her local gym for ‘flashing’ her stomach.

Tearful Shelby posted on her TikTok account @ shelby.bellz to explain her side of the story.

You can watch the video here.

“So I just went to the gym,” she explained, wiping the tears from her face. “The lady at the front desk said they have a policy, you are not allowed to wear sports bras at the gym. That you cannot show your belly.

She said, ‘It’s good for this time, but just so you know for the next time. “

Shelby then showed how she showed off a little belly in her high waisted leggings and sports bra.

“I went to do my workout, but 15 minutes later, while I was on the treadmill, the gym program coordinator came up to me and asked me to leave,” Shelby said.

When someone in the comments wrote: “I understand why you are upset, but most gyms have a dress code. Now if other girls wear sports bras and they don’t kick them out , that’s a huge problem, ”Shelby decided to film her response.

“There are two things that are problematic about the way this interaction went,” she said.

“And none of them has anything to do with their policy which is their dress code. Their dress code is what it is, I can’t change that no matter what.”

Shelby then said: “The first problem was the way the lady at the front desk spoke to me. First of all, I was like, ‘Oh, we’re not allowed to wear a sports bra? “and she said,” Well, we can’t just have our stomachs hanging around. “

“It was a demeaning tone. So that’s already wrong.

“The second problem is, she told me that everything was fine. That everything was fine this time, but for next time, just wear something else. So I went to the gym with my bracelet on. she gave it to me, saying it’s ok for me And then someone walks up to me when I’m 15 minutes into a workout, where I’m working out on the treadmill, sweat running on my face, like … what? “

In a third video, she added, “This was only the third time I have been to this gym. For some people it takes so much courage to go to the gym. And for this action to take place while I “Been there for over a week. It’s not something anyone would want to experience.”

“I tagged big shame because I truly believe if it had been a shorter woman they wouldn’t have said ‘we can’t let our bellies hang around.’ I truly believe it wouldn’t have been. said.”

Shelby’s original video has since surpassed 300,000 views, with many women rushing to the comments to offer their sympathy.

“Oh honey, don’t be embarrassed,” one woman wrote. “They should be embarrassed. I would name them and shame them.

“Don’t cry, just remember you’re beautiful and strong.”

“It’s time for a new gym, honey,” wrote another. “I’m so sorry this is happening to you.”

“You have to find another gym, my daughter,” said a third. “You don’t deserve to feel this.”
